I have a little question , if we are interested in examining the effect of monthly food commodity price fluctuations on inflation what should we consider as inflation ?? Y-o-Y inflation or M-o-M inflation
Inflation, by definition, is Y-o-Y. M-o-M is usually not considered inflation. You can call M-o-M aggregate price change. You may use either depending on your objective. If you use M-o-M price change it is easy to explain since you plan to monitor monthly fluctuations.
